The SemiPro BCS National Rankings is the official ranking system for adult amateur football. The system was created by Anthony McCormick with the sloe purpose of bringing a free national ranking system that is similar to the College BCS Rankings only modified for the Adult Amateur football level. These formula used for the SemiPro BCS National Rankings are very similar to the College BCS however there are no coaches polls, no fan polls and no associated press polls.  The system also does not go by prior season which means all ranking points must be earned each season.

I often get asked how the process works to determine a team’s ranking; first let me say it's not based on who you played last season or the season before or the fact that you won one of the self-proclaimed “millions of national champion games” that are out there.   The SemiPro BCS National Rankings uses 9-categories and 36-subcategories to determine a team’s weekly ranking:

Against All Games

• Winning Percentage
• Fewest Losses
• Most Wins
• Margin of Victory
• Points Scored
• Points Allowed

Against BCS Teams

• Winning Percentage
• Fewest Losses
• Most Wins
• Margin of Victory
• Points Scored
• Points Allowed
• Most Games Played
• Fewest Games Played Against Non-BCS Opponents

Home and Away Wins and Losses

• Home Winning Percentage
• Fewest Home Losses
• Away Winning Percentage
• Most Away Wins

Strength of Schedule

Once you have accurately submitted your score from the previous game (including who the home team is, who the away team is and whether or not it was a preseason league, preseason non-league, regular season league, regular season non-league, postseason playoff, postseason championship or bowl game) it will use that numeric value to determine in each of the 9-categories and 36-subcategories a total numeric value. Once that numeric value has been assigned it will be divided by 1.000. Once it has been divided it will then re-calculate the 9-categories to determine that week’s ranking.

If scores are reported weekly and correctly the rankings are extremely accurate, however if you fail to report scores in a timely manner or fail to report them accurately “IT WILL AFFECT YOUR RANKING”! All scores must be reported using the Report Scores link and must be submitted by no later than 12:00p Central Standard Time on the Monday following the game.
